    Backup system

So for the backup system its for the amount of space you have in your plan, or how much actual space it takes up?

If this has been answered elsewhere....well I think its my off week.

Is the price for the daily, weekly or monthly different? I understand the backup is $2 per month per gig. of your hosting plan.

      Thanks

The price is the same regardless of which frequency of backups you choose.

          Hello All,

I haven't been following the new backup system too closely, but have done a search on all threads containing the term and wanted to get this completely clear as it sounds like it has the potential of being a major issue!

          Questions:

          1) If the servers go down, a hardrive crashes, sytesm is hacked, etc. is there not any type of backup system included with the basic plans. There isn't any type of backup at all unless we've paid extra?

          2) If we purchase this backup system and the server / drive crashes, will the "backups" be completely re-installed for us (by the admin) and everything on all our accounts run as smoothly as they were (at the time of the last backup, i.e. day, week, month, etc.) including all email accounts, scripts, DBs, etc?

Andrew posted before that only a handfull of resellers (out of the MANY that are here) have signed up for the backup service. I think most resellers assume that any fully managed reselling services do incramental backups of their systems. If there really is NO backup at all (drive crashes and everything is literally gone) then I think most resellers are not aware of the real danger, which explains why so few are signed up for the backup service.

My last host got a hard drive seized by the Federal Government and let me say that there were MANY resellers that didn't have local backups.... boy was that a mess!

I would like to find out the answer to #2.

That will be the difference maker in my opinion. Right now, I can get the accounts to backup their data once a month under Cpanel. That isn't a great option, but an option we can use. If I am going to be paying $4 a month extra for the backup system, I want to have these backups restored for me. I don't want to mess with having to reconfigure WHM or Cpanel.

They were on the old servers, but it caused huge load times,
CPU use, server to be slowed up, etc. etc.

Under all the new upgrades, its no backup or paid backup.
And believe me-- I've heard people asking "When is cPanelxx going to be upgraded?"
because it has huge spikes of of CPU use, slowing down the server,
and ultimently slowing down all the sites on the server

So, as you can see its 100x better system
on the newer servers, and its also worth to pay the $$

Andrew, not that it matters to me yet, but say i'm on basic and I want daily backups, is it just an extra $4 per month no matter whether I choose daily, weekly, or monthly?

                          Another question:

I know you are working on getting servers converted to the Raid 1 configuration and starting the backups server by server, and you just finished Cpanel12.

                          1) Are you working them in descending order? Or, if not, when do you expect Cpanel08 to be done? When the backup service is available for my server, I'll buy it.

We are upgrading them in the order that we deem necessary. cpanel23 will be next. After that cpanel04, cpanel05, cpanel08, and cpanel10 are priorities to get upgraded but not necessarily in that order.

Just one more question on this ... until the servers are upgraded, is the old configuration still in place, with the backups nightly (or weekly, I forget!)
