    Forum sensorship

I noticed the following thread started last year and has had no comments added to it since last year, is still open.
I remember I spent months looking for a hosting provider only to put it off for a year. I then decided to join Dathorn and take my chances. One of the best decision I ever made. The Dathorn Support center really kicks in for me, Ive had only 2 problems that were resolved in less than an hour. Today I had a minor glich and e

Yet this thread, which seems to be highly popular and having a lot of content for the Dathorn community has been closed and moved out of site from any one browsing the forum. Certainly looked to me like there was plenty of discussion there. Apart from Andrews final dictatorial word of course:

Could it possibly be that it does not reflect well on Dathorn and this only those that do are left for the public eye?

Someone in the thread mentioned we live in a free country and can move hosts. Well it seems that we do not "live" in a free forum. So if you know that big public forum where people discuss hosts... there have been some very interesting replies and I can tell you, this time the poll is not very favourable.

Don't despair Andrew, I used a fictitous name for the host. Unlike some, I will go out of my way to help someone but slander and customer disapproval is not my game. Even though I've lost two clients due to... well you know the rest!

    Its been a blast.

The majority of Dathorn's customers never have had a problem. I've been here since March 2003 and have experienced a great host. Have had one client lost due to the CLIENT not following the provided TOS/AUP (their fault, not Dathorn's, any host would of done the same I stand behind that decision).

Yes, there has been slight hicups every so often. But nothing that is more than a few min of downtime, or a problem that wasn't able to be resolved quicky.

14 Trouble Tickets over 2 accounts spanning over 5+ years of usage here, 4 of which were billing tickets about the previous upgrades of both doubling your bandwidth and doubling space and bandwidth for one time fees.

Only a few people who expect the host is going to hold their hands, or be their best friend seem to have problems. Forums, if you don't keep them updates, they are bound to create problems (expolited/not work with new upgrades/ect). Sometimes there is an issue that is unforseen, and even then, the folks here, bend over backwards to attempt to fix the issue, and publically admit that it was an unforseen problem.

What more do you really want? You have been trolling the forums for the past week. If Dathorn is really this bad. Why are you still here? Why haven't you gone off to your new host, and started hosting at that so much better place?

You obviously have a grude that doesn't seem to be going away. Maybe you better back up a second and take a look at your posts. You come off really badly in many of them. These forums are searchable by google. When a possible client of yours searches for your domain name, they will find these threads and your user name. You could scare off new clients.

As Andrew has already stated. A few people out of well over 2,000 clients had an issue with the past upgrade. That's quite a low figure.

My forums got screwed over due to ME, yes ME using an old forum script. Guess who's fault that is? Just guess...if you said Yours ChrisTech, then you are absolutely correct. I was cheap and didn't want to pay for a script, nor bother with upgrading. It caught in the ass. You don't see me bitching about it. I've sucked up my own issue, and proceeded forward. You should do the same.
Hosting at Dathorn since March 2003!

You've made your point and I've explained the situation and our stance. Nothing is going to change and this needs to stop. These forums are far from sensored, your topics have just gotten far out of hand and are extremely repetitive.

Then why are you still here? Honest question, I'm not poking or feeding the trolls.

Thats your opinion and probably the steadfast Dathorn enthusiasts. I, and others feel I have a point (and even Andrew admits it) and if I am representing a customer I will make the best attempt at getting that point accross and defending it. If you keep making the argument, then you will see me reply (although maybe not after this).

Your answer is over simplifying the issues of late, so excuse me if I cut short as I also feel the point has been made.

Not repetitive as there are actually only 3 threads and it is more re-iterating my argument if someone is placing their view in the thread. As you know, you cannot please everyone all the time but I at least feel I should make the effort to reply.

Quite a reasonable question and simply its because it is not just one or two accounts we are talking about. Have to move a couple of accounts anyway.

I am also discussing ways to keep track of clients more easily than logging in to their account manually all the time to see what they are using. Some useful solutions are coming forward which I might actually employ.

Anyway, in summary I think its been a useful exercise and thanks to all for your views.

Perhaps if you find useful ways to watch them you could pass it on to the rest of us.

Actually, I think you've overstayed your welcome, and if I were running the forums, you would have been banned, and all of your accounts suspended at the end of the current billing period.

You have no expectation of free speech here. This is a forum run by Dathorn for the use of its customers. Dathorn has every right to control the content in the forums.

Andrew lets things be said here pretty freely, and people have access to the forums before signing up. They see the opinions expressed, and if they search on places like WHT, they will see more. The policy here is no secret.

I think your actions have been immature. You are not satisified with resolving the dispute with Andrew privately, but have resorted to what looks to me like a "crusade" to hurt his business. Your inability to get past your hurt feelings is probably interferring with getting on with your business. You may end up hurting your customers more by devoting time and energy to this crusade rather than taking care of their needs.

Well fortunately for all of us you are not and your comment on immature behaviours below can be quite applied to you if this is your type of business ethics. If you actually take time to read the threads, they are based on business decisions and cPanel errors... not personal attacks.

Look up the word "community". Dathorn has every right, I agree, but the forum is entitled community. With that you get the good, the bad and the ugly. The ugly is certainly when things get a little personal as you have decided to make it.

Everyone is entitled to their views and I posted mine. What I found, as I have already mentioned and at the risk of repetition, is that the answers to question in private are very different to those in public. For example, I even got an appology in public. I dare say you'll take that as a weekness of my hurt feelings or some other lame act to keep the thread running.

However what I did not do is post any personal attacks the likes of what you have done. To call someone immature, indeed reflects back on you and quite frankly, even more so.

It only takes 5 minutes to write a commet in a forum and I do not think that will hurt my customers that much. If it takes you longer then I'm sorry.

FINALLY, if you cannot keep it from getting personal I suggest you do not write at all. Getting personal electronically is for cowards. I could go on to make comments about you but then that would bring me down to your level and to be Frank, I would not even waste my time.

                      No problem.

I have actually hired a couple of guys to look into it, so we'll see if anything comes of it toward the end of the month.
