DreamWeaver MX 04... $95....So many more...

    I found a cool website called 'Hc.AcademicSuperStore.com'
which, I found in a pak of stuff in the mail from a Home-schooling
company, as my mother home schools me (thus, why I got time on my hands).

Anyways, I found some of these titles
for the prices listed beside them....

MacroMedia DreamWeaver MX 2004 = $95 (NO PRINTED MANUAL)
MacroMedia Flash MX 2004 = $95 (NO PRINTED MANUAL)
MacroMedia Director MX 2004 = $479 (NO PRINTED MANUAL)
MacroMedia Fireworks Mx 2004 = $95 (NO PRINTED MANUAL)
    MacroMedia Studio MX 2004 = $189 (NO PRINTED MANUAL(s))
    Adobe GoLive CS 7 = $69.95
Adobe Photoshop CS Web Development Studio = $465*
    * = Includes the Studio MX.

Point is, I'm not sure how many here can votch its
for "Educational" purposes, tho I still can cuz in High school

Now, Studio MX 04 basicly has the MX 04 versions
of Flash, DreamWeaver, Fireworks, and Freehand?

Hmm, is this a good deal? I've managed to get
back up to about $110 or so and I'd rather save
to get that instead of jumping for a $95 title...

      I don't doubt the site itself, I am just wonder;

Is Studio MX 2004, which the obvious titles of
      Flash, DreamWeaver, Freehand, and Fireworks;
all MX 2004 versions, worth sinking $185 into?

I'd like to know before I save for like two months
and then waste that + my small life
savings (just blew that on new comp).

The academic versions of software are pretty limited in what they can be used for. It usually clearly states that it can't be used for any commercial purposes. If you just want to start learning the software, I would recommend checking out the trial/demo versions first. I believe Macromedia's trial versions are fully functional. You are probably going to want to get the standard versions of the software eventually. You have to decide if the academic versions are worth it for you. Oh, and those prices aren't anything great. NewEgg has Studio MX 2004 Academic for $179, and I would recommend them very highly

Seriously? You mean I cannot use it to learn, and at
a later date (most likely a few years from now), I am FORBIDDEN
to use it for uses as a professional (i.e., hired) web designer?

How can they monitor that? as well, id the 'Acedemic' version
FULLY functional? I.e., has all the same stuff you get in full,
          all-your-life-savings cost u get from Macromedia.com ??

And yes, the trials are fully functional; what I hate,
is I tried out DreamWeaver Mx 04 (loved it), and when
it was over I decided to un-install and try the Fireworks MX 04
demo; well it said "YOUR TRIAL 30 DAYS HAVE BEEN USED UP -- PLEASE ORDER"
when I'd yet to even open Fireworks

Just checked website and your completely right!

What are the restrictions in using education versions of Macromedia products?
Education versions of Macromedia products are intended for instructional and administrative purposes only and may not be used for any commercial purpose. Macromedia will conduct periodic security audits to be certain of your education qualification.
So let's see; first off to continuely use these software,
I must be a student @ the time? hmm that suckx.

Does anyone think I can get around this?
I.e., do the web design for FREE provided
they buy hosting from me? etc.

I'm home schooled, and infact the original site I found
this off of, the 'HC.AcademicSuperStore.com' was in
a bunch of ads for various homeschool-related fliers, etc.
my mom gets (so she can find best book prices, etc.).

But basicly from way they point it, if my
uncle calls me up and says, "John-- I need you to help me with this"
and offers me so much $, I cannot use any of
those products because it'd be for commercial use, correct?

Jonathan - while you're in school you can use the acedemic versions of software. But, in addition to reading, writing, and 'rithmatic learn about business ethics. Business relationships have to include trust, not "how can I get around this basic requirement so I can get something for nothing (or less than I am suppose to pay)?" or "how can I screw the other guy without him even finding out?" Trust can be a very fragile thing - easily broken or lost. Trust and a good reputation can be the two biggest assets a business can have.

I'm sure that there are very few people how haven't illegally copied software or tried to get around a software license at some time or another. But that doesn't make it right.

And if you're going to try to screw Macromedia for goodness sakes don't announce it in an open forum!

                      Scratch this;

                      1) I found the PERFECT HTML/CSS/PHP/etc. editor
called 'Crimson Text' or 'Editor' (forget which lol)

                      2) I alrdy have Adobe Photoshop, and I am
some-what profient in it, so why get FireWorks?

                      3) I alrdy have Flash MX, but its not '04'
plus mom said she'll get me the educational version
for my B-day in a couple of months as she is mad
I'm using an illegal copy (gee, no she wouldn't be )

                      4) Who needs Freehand? I don't
                      even know what it is!

Four reasons not to buy a bundle of four overtly
priced, slightly realitic via Educational Discounts, products
