    dns & nameserver change together?

Am going to move a site to Dathorn soon & will change the dns settings accordingly. At the same time I want to set this site up as the nameserver.
I am with Namecheap & all seems straighforward but do I change them both at the same time, just the nameserver, the dns & then the nameserver? Or doesn't it matter at all.
Trying to avoid mucking it all up.

I suppose it is a question of changing the dns with the dathorn nameservers, wait for the propogation & then change the nameservers, no?

    Any advice welcome. Thanks.

When I moved, I issued the change of nameservers at my registrar first, using Dathorn's nameservers, waited until the change propegated, then had my custom name servers set up. Then I went back to my registrar and changed the nameservers again.

For the second go-around, changing the name servers from Dathorns to my custom name servers, its completely transparent to the user. Like you, I was afraid trying to do both at the same time would get things fouled up.

I have since heard that it doesn't really matter. You can get set up here, get your custom name servers set up, and then just use those at your registrar's when you want to have the domain resolve to your account here.

The nice thing now is .com transfers almost instantly so not big waiting period.
