    custom nameservers from NetSol ?

    Netsol (ie. network solutions)

Has anyone here setup custom name servers thru them? Boss setup an account here so we can move our stuff outta the inhouse (dying) webserver to a Dathorn reseller account. He claims to of added them, but I cannot add them as name servers via (domainsite.com) to some of my "free" .info accounts that Im using for testing.

    ERROR:
The name server ns1.xxxxxx.net is not a valid name server registered with the registry.

If the domain name is locked, it will need to be unlocked before name servers can be edited.

Domain is unlocked. Just cant add the custom name server. I can resolve them just fine here and on various other servers. Is there something we may of missed? I don't have access to the NetSol account, therefore I cannot make changes. I can just pass that on. I have full access to the WHM though.

Was just told by a friend you cannot use ns1.xxxx you have to use dns1.xxxx

I guess its a new thing, or does anyone else have an idea?

      Possible Additional Step

I don't know if it works the same way on NetSol, but GoDaddy requires the nameservers to be "added" under a different function than nameserver management. If you don't do the add first, you get an error very similar to the one you're getting.
Once you do the add, you can change the nameservers, no problem.
Hope this helps. Sorry if it doesn't apply.

I might of come off sounding confusing. The bossman claimed to of added the ns servers in network solutions already.

Though each time I attempt to use them it wont work. I can however ping the name servers and I get the correct ip for them. Hoping someone that is using network solutions (netsol) can help out.

It appears that domainsite.com has issues with using netsol name servers. Works fine with any other registar.

              working here...

I have a domain still registered at network solutions (it will move to go daddy when it expires) that I am using for custom name servers.
              ns1.northwestdata.com
              ns2.northwestdata.com

It has been so long since I set it up, I dont remember if I needed to do anything special. Sorry.
