    Nameservers and Upgrade

I was on cpanel08 which was switched to 51 today - I need help:

" All accounts have now been transfered. You should now change your DNS/nameservers to the new cpanel51 nameservers if necessary."

I have no clue where to do this - at the registrar of all my domains and for collegestreetservices.com - the nameservers are all the same: ns1.collegestreetservers.com

I see no IP number to change - where would I go?

I think you mean the nameservers are:

    NS1.COLLEGESTREETSERVICES.COM
    NS2.COLLEGESTREETSERVICES.COM

Go to your registrar (PRIMUS) and enter the control panel for the parent domain name, COLLEGESTREETSERVICES.COM. Then you have to find where they hide the nameserver IP address information.

I don't know how PLANETDOMAIN has them configured; with DirectI, I go into "Child Name Servers" where I can change the IP address associated with the custom nameservers.

There is a FAQ entry at http://forums.dathorn.com/showthread.php?t=24 that shows you how to change the associated IP address for each of the nameservers at GoDaddy. Perhaps that might give you an idea. I went to the primusdomain.com site, but I can't get past a log in screen to actually see how they have it configured.

I think you might go to PLANETDOMAIN.COM and click on the "My Account" then "Manage Domain" menu item and select "Modify DNS Details" to get to it. But you may have to search around for it a bit. Hope this helps!

I also have some problems with DNS. I have 9 domains hosted at Dathorn, 7 are all fine and pointing to the new server (IP 74...) when pinged but two of them are still pointing to the old one (IP 69...)

One of these two domains is registered with Yahoo, however another domain that I have with Yahoo is pointing to (IP 74...) fine

The other one that is not working is registered with Registerfly.com, and same story – I have another domain registered with the same registrar that is working.

I tried to change DNSs at yahoo but got error message that "Can't do it now, try later" and explanation is that "If you receive repeated errors while trying to modify your nameservers, they may not be registered." Once again, oe of the Yahoo domains is already pointing to cpanel51, eventhough the nameservers are still dns15 and dns16.gzo.com.

Anoune with any idea what may be wrong ?

Now I'm really confused, big time.

One of the two 'offending' domains, one is constantly pinging to cpanel08 IP number. The other one was pinging to cpanel08 when I wrote the post above, then some time earlier today it was pinging the cpanel51, but now it pings cpanel08 again?

Is this on the same computer? Or were you on different computers? If on different ones, then try going to the computer that still pings to cpanel08 and do Start * Run and enter "ipconfig /flushdns" to flush out the local DNS cache (that's on a Windows machine ... not sure how it works on a Mac). Then re-try.

Yes, on the same one. I had the other domain doing the same, going through the same cycle but now both are pointing to cpanel51, hopefully will stay that way.

Sounds like your ISP's DNS. Beside using your hosts file to avoid these kinds of problems, you might try using the Root DNS to avoid problems with your ISP's DNS.
