    DNS Trivia Question

I know I can take one of my domains hosted here and have it setup to have a DNS record to point somewhere else...

    Example heredomain.com www34.heredomain.com IN A re.mo.te.ip

Andrew can set that up for me....

    NOW THE TRICK AND TRIVIA.................................

I have a DNS server elsewhere with a domains dns records on it.

I am trying to point the www record to a domain hosted here.

    IE: www.theredomain.com IN A da.th.orn.ip

When I do this I get cpanelxx.gzo.com as the page that comes up.

Is there a way to do this or do I need to purchase an ip from Dathorn???

    Thanks
    Randy

As long as the domain is pointed to the correct IP (the one listed for the account in WHM), this should work just fine.

It would but because all the domains on the server uses the same ip the www record points to that ip and the default page for the server comes up which is:

      cpanelxx.gzo.com

The IP being shared does not matter. Apache can recognize the request for the specific domain and will match the appropriate virtualhost. Please submit a trouble ticket with the domain in question and I can take a look at it.
