    OpenSRS- UNLOCKED vs. HOLD

Below is what my former domain company now says about the domain I want to move:

Your domain is already UNLOCKED and let me explain again that OpenSRS have no restrictions on transfering expired domains. Many domain transfer systems do not accept this because only OpenSRS allow to transfer expired domains.

godaddy responds that the domain is still on HOLD and they cannot do anything about it.

Please comment: is OpenSRS just an oxymoron for closedSRS? Do I have any chance of getting this domain out of the control of the host using OpenSRS?

    Thanks for any comments.

    Has the domain expired?

If it has, it may be hard to transfer it. You may have to renew it first at OpenSRS, wait a month, and then initiate the transfer.

I agree. I don't believe an expired domain can be transferred. It must be renewed.

If you are going to use the domain, it has to renewed anyway.
