    Old nameserver on last legs; What to do?

    Hi Dathornites,

    I've got all my nameservers going here in Dathorn land, and a new add-on domain. Thanks for the posts ...

    My old reseller host is hurting REAL bad. I can't log in to my WHM, cpanels, anything. At least a few days ago I could ping and surf it. Now they don't return e-mails! Ay caramba.

    Question(s):
    1. With no access to old nameserver(s)/reseller host account, can I simply "demote" my old reseller site's nameserver "status" at my name registrar's website?

    2. If 1 = True, then may I host the formerly hosted/name-servered accounts on the new server? with the same domain name?

    e.g.: client2.com was hosted and "nameservered" by ns1.deadhost.com, ns2.deadhost.com.
    I want client2.com to be hosted at new-happy-dathorn-host.com.

    I'll try and salvage "stuck" e-mail msgs at a later date.

    Suggestions?

    Thanks in advance,
    Jesse G = J-G

    Yes.

    Setup domain hosting on Dathorn and then changde DNS info in domain registrar to point to Dathorn's DNS. Within few days, after change propagate through DNS'es domain will become visible on new server.

        I find that's it useful to use an external DNS service to manage the pointing and such of your domains to IP address, so if things like this do happen, you can change the IP's and it should have propogated within 3 hours.

        I use EasyDNS.com, but there are plenty of other ones out there like Zone Edit.

        Worth looking into if you want to make sure you can cover yourself in the event that things go bad!
