    SubDomains as separate accounts?

Is it possible to set up SubDomains for one account that behave as separate accounts in that they have their own disk and traffic quotas?

You can do this with WHM.

Thanks for the quick response, Oz.

If there's one thing I've learned since signing up with Dathorn, though, it's never to just poke around with things in WHM...you never know what might break something to the extent of having to get Dathorn to fix it.

If I have an account 'mydomain.com' and wish to add a subdomain 'subdomain.mydomain.com' as a separate account, is it as easy as adding the new account with domain 'subdomain.mydomain.com'?

      Thanks,
      -JC

When a separate account is added as a subdomain throught the WHM, will that account then have a separate cPanel? And will it be able to set up its own email accounts ('name@subdomain.mydomain.com')?

Here's the stumper: Any way to extend to the subdomain.mydomain.com account the ability to create email addresses @mydomain.com instead of @subdomain.mydomain.com?

You can always create that email on top level domain by hand. subdomain cpanel will handle only stuff related to that subdomain.

purchasing domain for the subdomain account

I have some customers with the subdomain account off my host account.

Now they want to purchase their own domain. How can I transfer this subdomain account to a new account?

                    Thanks!

It appears you can click modify account in whm and change it there.

It is good practice to let hem use subdomain too, so you may simpoly set new domain as parked domain on subdomain account. thatway both addresses will work ans show the same contents.

Do not alter domain name in cpanel. There is bug in cpanel that will make mess on that server.

                          Thanks!

If I park the domain name on the subdomain name, when they type in the domain URL, will the subdomain name show up? Or will it look like any other domain named account?

                          Thanks for all your help,
                          Cindy Cullen

it'll look like any domain account.
