    Domain pointing

I want to point a domin to a computer at home. I have a fixed IP address with my broadband connection and am wondering how to get the domain to point to it. Can itbe done via my dathorn cpanel or will I have to get something else?

    thanks

You can setup forwarding for subdomains under cPanel, i know that for sure.
As to whether there's an option to forward the whole domain, i don't know.

You could use a .htaccess file to then forward to the IP.
However, if you wanted to use your computer to actually host the domain name, you'll have to look at setting up some DNS software to utilise the domain.

yeah - Im looking for mapping the domain to the IP address rather than just forwarding. If this is possible, please let me know.

      I have seen a DNS service http://www.zoneedit.com/
This is free for a while, but then there is a charge if you use it too much.

I just figured as Im already paying for hosting, I might be able to do this within Dathorn.

In WHM you have Zone edior where you may edit DNS records for your accounts. If Zone editor is not available in WHM then post trouble ticket and Dathorn stuff will turn it on (it is hiden to avoid mess by novice users, I guess).

If you want existing domain to point to your IP then simply change IP address pointing to Dathorn's server to your IP.

My strong suggestion is to point some subdomain to your computer. You can easily set new A record to point subdomain to your IP. Just copy one of the existing A records and use your IP and wanted subdomain name.

You should have some knowledge abut DNS before trying out since it is easy to mess it out.
