My ISP Blocked Port 25 For Outgoing Mail. What Can I Do?
My ISP blocked port 25 to reduce spam and now I can't use Outlook to send email. What can I do? Is there another port I can connect to or another workaround?
Yep, use your ISP's SMTP servers and you'll be fine. More and more ISPs are blocking SMTP in and out. I can't really blame them although I seriously doubt it will cut down on SPAM and/or the transmission of viruses/trojans.
How are you "spoofing" the header? This happens all of the time and I have yet to see it as a problem anywhere. If you really want to get into the nitty gritty, look at your header sometime for email sent from your Dathorn account. It shows coming from cpanelxx.gzo.com, not mail.yourdomain.com. So, if "spoofing" the header was a problem, you'd already be having that problem
Same thing happened to me today -- we were unable to send outgoing email. Dathorn Support was quick to suggest a test to see if Port 25 was being blocked. Found out Southwestern Bell DSL had started blocking Port 25 and suggested that their customers change over so all outgoing email goes through the SBC SMTP server at mail.swbell.net. One of the SBC web pages had a form you could fill out to get the Port 25 Block removed from your account, but several hours later nothing has happened from submitting the form to SBC. I tried to phone SBC DSL support, but you end up talking to someone in a foreign country who is hard to understand, so that was very frustrating.
As a follow-up to my previous post, I'm now Unblocked on Port 25. The request had to go through SBC Internet Services Security Policy Team, but they phoned me and asked me a couple of questions. Because I was using my own Dathorn mail server, they granted my request to be removed from Port 25 filtering. If you're using SBC DSL, you can do the same thing if you want.

Just wondering, never did figure out... Does that mean
that Port 25 is unblocked for me, or since it said "we do not authorize...",
does it mean Port 25 is blocked?
Looks like it's opened for you because you're actually connecting to the SMTP server. "We do not authorize" is Dathorn warning statement...the same as when you shell into your account.
SBC Yahoo started blocking over the weekend. I've put in three tech support calls to try and get it removed from my account, but the tech support people do not have a clue what I'm talking about and won't give me to anyone else. Their reply is that "it is a problem with your external host's SMTP", we are not blocking - after another tech said it was a new policy.
I've tried online chat, two phone calls - now just waiting for an e-mailed response before I consider contacting the BBB.
Even though dathorn SMTP accounts show cpanelxx.gzo.com, I'd rather it be that than yahoo.com. Additionally, I have people I work for that have their own e-mail servers that this is now blocking.
