    Have domains, need email.

Would anyone be able to point me to a "how to" section to set up email?

I am sure this info is right in front of me; just not seeing it.

    thanks,

    1. Log into cPanel (http://domain.com/cpanel)*
    2. I believe its under 'Mail Manaer' -> Manage Accounts
    3. Click 'Create Account' link @ the buttom -> Set email, pass, quota.

As for setting up email in Outlook/Outlook Express, there
is a cPanel auto config file if I remember correctly.

You can always log into Webmail (http://domain.com/webmail)**
to check your email via SquirrelMail, NeoMail, or Horde.

    * Replace 'domain.com' with your own;

I used to use Neomail alot, and I've written a tutorial
for a member of this forum on how to install your own copy of Squirrel,
but IMO their all basicly the same.

I've gotten Thunderbird and I love it.

            thanks for references!

Umm.. horde looks like spamcop's webmail.
are they one in the same?

              Thunderbird

              Hi Jonathan,

              Thanks for help.

              um -

Thunderbird lives on client machine (like Calypso {my favorite},
              outlook, entourage, etc.

other three look like they live on server-side?

if this is true, does it matter which i set up in cpanel?

horde looks like my spamcop webmail gui. do not know
              the other two.

hmm... are all three set up just to read mail on server while
              on-line?

So Thunderbird (et al) can be set up using domain name, username, password on the user machines without doing any more on line??

              almost -

:P Well I had to toss in Thunderbird,
even if it is a actual email client and not on the server.

                IMO, doesn't matter which.
Basicly, their for webmail (standard browser-based) access.

To setup thunderbird, its basicly the same as Outlook.
For the user, make it 'user@domain.com' or 'user+domain.com'.
                The mail addie is mail.domain.com

If your sending it from a email client, then
check to see if your ISP has blocked port #25.
(check FAQ forum -> Email subforum, somewheres around there)

                  T-bird and F-fox

                  Hi Jonathan,

                  Thanks for that.
I have been using calypso for a long time
and have clients using it as well.
I like it a lot - and it is free. though
i paid for it a long time ago.

Thunderbird looks neat. But on the MAC i use
the Mail program native to OS X and on the PC,
well - Calypso. Thunderbird's campadrie, FireFox
absolutely rocks! { I dumped Safari from the MAC and
have been trying to figure out how to get the OS to see Fox
                  as the default browser in my spare time.}

have set calypso up fine. sent a test email out to
the address an hour or ago and still nothing has materialized.

am i missing something else in email set up within cpanel?

... how do i set up additional email addresses for the account?
maybe that is the step i am missing?

                  ????????????

woa! a new panel of options opened up in a sub called "front end!"
NOW i have opetions and can see what you were referencing -
                  and how EASY this is!!

                  many thanks!

                    mail

                    Hi Jonathan and Andy,

                    Conundrums resolved; thank you both!

Seems my biggest obstacle was the video RAM
in the ancient (and overloaded) PC not loading
                    page options in customer cpanel.

that PLUS i never looked in the customer cPanel
                    until Jonathan said, "go there."

All is well and I have a whole new palette of
                    fun toys as well.

                    You guys rock!

                    Thanks!
