    Spam - ideas?

Hi everyone, I have a serious spam issue on one of my accounts. I was just wondering what kind of options I have. I have spam assassin activated on all of my accounts, but it seems to do nothing on the one in question. I also have the spam folder enabled on the ones that appear to be working. Does the spam directory have to be enabled for spam assassin to work? Right now it says it will append ***spam*** in the header, but it never does.

If there are any other ideas out there please let me know. I am a coder and designer, and the email part of things is a bit of a mystery to me. I use thunderbird and it handles all of my spam issues, but one of my clients does not and it is becoming a real issue for them.

There's BoxTrapper in cPanel - an automated whitelist. It's hard to find in my cPanel theme but I know it's there somewhere.

Doesn't that require the sender to send back an email?

Yes, but you can setup whitelists.
It's not available on all cPanel boxes at Dathorn yet either i don't think. Certainly not on cpanel20 anyway

I said it is hard to find. I really meant it too. In the Bluelagoon cPanel theme, it doesn't show up on the front page. But it's there under: /mail/boxtrapper.html

I have it, but I don't want to use that. This is an email that receives a lot of web email. I just want to filter the spam out and I can't figure out why spam assassin doesn't seem to work. On my personal site it grabs loads of spam. But on mine I have a spam box enabled. On the other I just have it set to change the subject to ****Spam****, but I have yet to see an email filtered this way on the other account. ??

Maybe it is working. I had ***Spam*** set to delete in an email filter. I have removed this and will see if I get Spam subjects. If so then I am getting even more spam.

As for email filters, are there any good things to filter? I am thinking of filtering out the domain name since most of the spam comes from an email claiming to be from my domain and this domain only has one email, so I don't think it will block any wanted emails, or could this be dangerous?

i use popfile (google for it) which is on my computer and learns and does a good job of deleting spam.

We are using squirrel mail so I don't think popfile is an option. I just realized that spam assassin is working, but I get a lot of email. I think I'll set up some filters. A lot of my spam actually says it comes from my domain, so I am thinking I can filter the domain out and only allow the email I use.
