Help! I'm getting Spammed w/virus's BIGTIME

In the past 4 hours I've gotten 150+ s messages all with virus's attached. All to an email address on cpanel32. Anyone else having similar problems? Is there a good way to make certain that these emails aren't coming from my own server? Should I shut down my mail? I'm just not quite sure what to do.

    Help!

If they are all getting caught by virus scan just let it go I guess...

Fair enough. I guess I won't worry about it.

As nearly all virii are targeted at Windows it's not likely to be the server (assuming you're talking about cpanel32 when you say "server").

You may be able to find out where they're coming from by viewing the header. In later versions of Outlook you can do that by just right clicking on the message (don't even need to open it) and selecting Options. Handy to try and find out if it is someone you know that is sending them.

And, as always, be sure to keep your virus definitions up to date.

I'm guessing he meant from an account on the server to his account.

I'm getting virus mail big time too as I said in another post. I've never gotten virus spam before. Seems strange to all of the sudden have loads of it.

Not entirely unusual. I have been seen it where you can go for a whole 2days of nothing then suddenly it just flows in like the water over Niagra Falls. I have McAfee going locally and some filters on the server to cut some of it down. The problem is the content and subject can sometimes be similar to client info so banning some things can be more harmful than useful when it comes to filters.

I dunno, I keep my primary email pretty private, I have another one for signing up for things. I am only getting these messages from hotmail addresses. Strange and annoying.
