    e-mail reliablility, MX entries

I recently set up an account with Dathorn for our (small) company, and at some point soon we'll probably switch to using Dathorn as our primary e-mail server. has anyone had any reliability problems with e-mail?

I've seen elsewhere that having a second MX entry for the domain is a good idea, if possible, to catch any e-mail sent when the primary mail server is down or unreachable. Is there some way to arrange that with Dathorn, or can anyone suggest a 3rd party who provides this service?

    Thanks.

I personally host my domain's DNS at zoneedit.com.

They have a backup MX service, that if your main MX server is down, they will collect and store your emails for up to 10 days. During this time they will try and resend your email your mail server.

I have found that for my domain where I host my own mailserver, this has worked very well. It's saved me from losing many emails.

From memory, I think zoneedit charge you one zone credit to use this server ($9.95 per year I think), which is quite reasonable!

    Cheers,

    James
