    vacation auto-reply

Is there a way to set up a vacation auto-reply for an email account at the server level?

Auto responders can be setup via cPanel. However, we never recommend using them as they can be used to spam with forged from addresses.

right, I saw that. I was looking for something the end-user could turn on or off. I thought there might be something in one of the webmail clients (I don't use them myself), but didn't see anything there.

Unfortunately this is only possible via cPanel directly, sorry.

AndrewT, it seems to me that you are not totally right.

Try http://dathorn-hosted-domain.com/webmail and you gonna be redirected to cPanel's mail management interface. Enter your credenials (login: username@dathorn-hosted-domain.com and your regular email password) and you'll be able to set up an auto-replier as well as change forwarding options and select your preferred webmail.

          Hope that helps.

You are correct ZYV. I thought I had seen it before but when I went to confirm it before I replied here it wasn't there. This is because the extra options aren't available to the cPanel user itself, but they are available for additional e-mail accounts.
