    Losing email

    Hello,

There is a serious issue that I would like to bring up. I don't know if anyone else here has encountered this.

When a domain reaches it's max space, emails sent to that domain are not received and discarded. However the sender is not notified of this.

I believe the emails should be either bounced and a message sent to sender or enqueued instead of just being discarded.

    Anyone have any thoughts?

Allocate more diskspace for your domain? Or, don't store as many emails on the server.

Do they go to the default acct?

You could set mailbox space to unlimited (i think)

I guess some people are having this problem due to a full mailbox, but what about users like me who haven't even come close to filling their mailbox quota ? There have been several instances lately for cpanel22 where email just stops being sent for the WHOLE server, not just one domain. At times it's gone over 8 hours where a server is absolutely not sending any emails. I've been through all this via trouble ticket and it gets fixed with a "it shouldn't happen again" response and no explanation as to what's causing the problems. The problem gets fixed, but any emails that the system didn't send in that downtime are lost forever (lost 80 confirmed legit messages in one episode). There are still ongoing intermitent problems, but I guess someone else is reporting them because it gets resolved before I have a chance to complain about it.

Anyway, my reason for writing this is to ask anyone else who's on cpanel22 to keep an eye out - it might be ok now, but send yourself a test message now and again ... I bet ya it doesn't get through. I'm curious if anyone else is noticing this but me - I sure haven't seen anything written about it on this board.

I'm looking into setting something up with 'easydns' so I have a backup email setup.

The issue with cpanel22 is unique and never has/had occured on any other server and there have been no issues with cpanel22 for over a week now since it was last fixed. It was due to general problems with Exim just not working correctly.

Andrew, it's aggravating for me ... but I'm not looking to start a 'flame' of any sort. I simply wanted to see if anyone else on cpanel22 was experiencing the same issues as me - even after you say it's fixed. I've received several reports at my personal email address stating that messages have been sent to cpanel22 and aren't getting through. I asked for outgoing times/titles..etc to report, but the users haven't kept 'sent' messages . I know that's not much info to give you, hence my requesting others report any similarities - I hope you understand.
