    FTP acounts and IE

Is there a way to access an FTP account with an '@' in the user name via IE? IE doesn't seem to like this at all.

Alternatively, is there a way to create an FTP account without the '@'?

Personally, I use FileZilla, but I would like to allow a user to access a directory via FTP. This is a non-techie person, and I don't want them to have to install a dedicated FTP client. IE is there and familiar.

Just guessing, since I can't try this from behind the firewall at work, but try replacing the "@" with a "+" and see if IE likes that better. It works with email addresses.

Tried that, no go. Maybe I will try a few other permutations.

It works with version 6 as far as I know. You just need to keep right clicking in the window and entering the login/pass till things show up. It's definately a pain though, an FTP client would be far easier for them even though they are not a techie-type.
