    pine e-mail install

Sorry to bother everyone, but I'm trying to install the pine e-mail client on my website to be accessed through SSH. I followed the instructions on the pine site (http://www.washington.edu/pine/getpine/linux.html), but when I tried to rpm the binary package I got the following error message:

error: cannot get exclusive lock on /var/lib/rpm/Packages
error: cannot open Packages index using db3 - Operation not permitted (1)
error: cannot open Packages database in /var/lib/rpm
when I then tried to rpm the source package, I got the following error message:

    error: cannot create %sourcedir /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES
The rpmbuild command they suggested does not work either. Apprently it's not a recognised command.

The pine website and FAQ weren't very helpful, so I thought I should maybe post here to see if anyone knew what to do.

Sorry to bother you all, and thanks in advance for all your help,

    Nick
