Okay, I have my SSL key - now what?

Okay, everyone, I've purchased my first SSL certificate, and installed it in the domain's cpanel. I notice there's a directory entitled 'ssl' in the domain's 'www' folder now.

But no matter what I upload, or how I compose a url, https://mydomain/any_url merely results in an error: "The connection to (mydomain) has terminated unexpectedly. Some data may have been transferred".

(I've attempted to upload an index file into the ssl folder, or just tried to access root 'www' directory files with the https prefix, etc).

Is there a primer for how to actually make sure that my content is visible?

Well, looks like I solved my problem... I had originally done all the SSL certificate work from the CPANEL of the domain I was putting the cert onto.

When I searched these forums using different keywords, I found some threads where people were instructed to use the WHM to import the cert.

Did this, and my httpd was automatically restarted and I was able to see the results no problem. I'm quite happy!

Though... as far as I can tell, the WHM screen where the certificate and key files must be pasted (it couldn't find them on the server, in spite of the fact that they were already there in the domain's 'ssl' folder) is NOT firefox-friendly. I had to use IE in order to process my certificate via my WHM.
