Using the installed cPanel SSL for admin tools for the website itself?

Admittedly, I am not the smartest of cats when it comes to SSL, but how come you can't piggy back off the https used for the cPanel admin tool for developed pages that you want to make secure? When you create a new account in WHM for say, www.domain.com, you immediately have protected cPanel access via:

https://www.domain.com:2083

how come you can't use that https:// for your site developments? For example, use the certificate for a developed

https://www.domain.com/store/?

Essentially, I loathe the idea of having to pay for a SSL cert, and am dreaming up preferred alternatives

Thats because, like the WHM and cPanel SSLs (well @least WHM, never used cPanel's)
are self-signed, i.e. not signed by a trusted source. If you plan any
eCommerce, just get the SSL cert. Check out ev1Servers.net I think they
have a limited time deal for SSL certs (I like $10) for one year.

Not sure if it can work with Dathorn, didn't check to see if it
