Hi all. Another web developer reported to me that he has been getting a "server could not be found error" when he tries to get to my pages - even my pactumgroup.com main page. What could be wrong? Any suggestions? (He's from Great Britain, btw.)
Not sure what it is, but that's at least 2 present cases I'm aware that AOL users are not seeing sites. I'm on a forum where a web designer's *client* couldn't see the site (now that's bad news!)....
Perhaps I'll write a trouble ticket and see if Dathorn has some sort of setting that might be blocking AOL somehow.

Thx.
Funny, someone else on this forum cannot see any of my sites on my dathorn server and he also is from Great Britian
AOL can be extremely flacky. They cache everything and sometimes it just takes one bad caching server to drive you nuts. The AOL users may have to wait for schedule maintenance to catch the problem. (I've seen that take anywhere from a month to 6 months.) Reporting it to AOL doesn't seem to do any good but maybe they operate different in the UK. The only thing that might work, if they are on dail up, try switching numbers.
Your DNS report looks ok, nothing that should stop AOL from finding you.

If this is a continued problem, you'll want to have these users go to www.whatip.com and submit a trouble ticket with their IP addresses, they could be blocked. However, this most certainly should not be the case with AOL, it usually happens more often to those outside of the U.S.

I'm in Japan and have had similar problems with people trying to access our server from over here. Some of them can reach the server through a traceroute, but can't view webpages. Mail works fine, too. It's been going on for a while now.
..for your comments. Yes, I'm 99% sure the problem is an AOL issue. On my blog, I'm trying to convince anyone using AOL to try viewing my Dathorn-hosted sites and let me know what's happening for them.
Okay, sorry, forum discussion is not going to resolve this. The customer in question here needs to submit a trouble ticket containing a traceroute to the server and the actual IP of the user that is having problems connecting to the sites. I can almost guarantee that we can have this fixed in a few minutes but without this information we cannot do anything.
I don't know what all this discussion about AOL is, but the problem is likely not on their end. If you are having ANY problems reaching our servers, you need to submit a trouble ticket with the information described above. Most of the time it's a very simple problem.
Not trying to be "mean", just telling it how it is.
