Question on Email forwarding from Dathorn servers to outside...

I am on cpanel16 and the move this morning reset the DNS on all of my domains back to the Dathorn default. I am still waiting for the old DNS whch Andrew restored to propagate out since the bad information got propagated when the server came back up this morning. I understand the delay on that and am just telling my clients they have to wait it out.

Now my big question concerns email though. Most of my clients host email on their own in house servers. I simply maintain the DNS at Dathorn to point to the email server at the client site. When the DNS reverted this morning to the default, it caused all of the incoming emails for the client domains to be recieved and stored in the default domain catchall address on cpanel16. Normally no client email ever land there since DNS points to the clients server.

Because of the limitations of the configuration at Dathorn, it is not possible to configure the Dathorn server to act as a non-authoritative server and forward all emails it receives for a domain onto the client server. As a result, it holds onto the emails.

I asked Andrew if he had a way to forward these email to the client server transaparently and he does not. He told me I would have to forward each email individually which is not an option I would like to pursue. At this point there are over 400 valid emails between my client accounts on cpanel16 and growing since the DNS has not finished propagating.

I was hoping someone would know of a program that could read the contents of the catchall address for a domain on Dathorn's cpanel16 and then resend all the emails it finds to the regular host server.

Something along the lines of an IMAP read of the mailbox followed by a regular email resend of the emails without changing subject lines etc. If it shows duplicate hops in the routing that is fine.

It would be nice to have it able to process hundreds of messages in a catchall automatically and forward them all on to the destination server.

Please let me know. This has the potential of being more then "minor inconveniences that must be dealt with".

    Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem several times since form time to time, Cpanel resets mail settings to default on its own and mail is stored indefault mailbox instead forwarded as expected. I searched for the same solution as you, but without any luck.

I hope some linux expert wil come out with an solution. I have strong feeling that is actualy easy for them to do.
