    Access from Singapore

    Hi all,

I am from Singapore and recently, access to dathorn have been horrible. I am not blaming/flaming dathorn but I hope that fellow Asians can shed some light. Maybe it is Singapore or just me.

    Here is my problem.

Recently, actually for the pass 1 to 2 months, accessing my emails through Outlook Express is quite unstable. Sometimes, servers can get timeouts quite easily when downloading emails. And even through the webmail, the speed fluctuates. It can be resonable at times, and sometimes it is just horrible. Also alot of my clients complained that they cannot receive my emails and their clients can't receive the emails that my clients sent.

However, the web is still quite ok, only the mails. Do not want to submit a trouble ticket as they will ask me to submit traceroutes which shows that the network speed is reasonable. Just hope to find people with the same problem and find out how are they coping with it.

from India, it looks quite reasonable to me at the moment. For the past 2 weeks I have been using the mails quite extensively on the servers, haven't seen any lag.

Access to emails has always been pretty speedy for me too, accessing Dathorn from Australia.

Any performance problems I've had have been related mainly to my ISP and the intermediate networks used to connect me to Dathorn.

However, I suggest that you submit a trouble ticket anyhow about the issue, noting any specific times that the problem occurs, details of the server you are on etc.

There may be something happening that Dathorn might want to have a quick look at. Who knows.

For example, it may turn out that you are sharing a cpanel server with some other users who are hammering the POP3 or SMTP servers on that box too hard... or that server may be having other CPU or other performance problems from time to time that may be worth Dathorn having a look at, or which Dathorn may be able to let you know about.

If you don't report the issue, you will just be left guessing...

Trouble tickets cost nothing , and Dathorn are usually very quick to respond.

Had been a registered member of the previous forum before it clashes and had not bothered to register myself again till today.

I am also from Singapore and I had quite a few users accessing their emails from here. I do not see any problem myself nor had I encounter any complaints. I am currently using Starhub MaxOnline to access the Internet at home.

The nifty traceroutes actually show where the problem lies. Could easily be a transit issue. Somewhere between you and the server a provider could be having an issue.
