ImageMagick outdated, GD2 doesn't seem to work properly...Help Needed

I don't know if any of you use Photopost, but it calls upon the command +profile in ImageMagick which seems to be incompatible with the older version of ImageMagick installed here on DaThorn. Since I can't install a newer version of IM (and DaThorn doesn't seem willing to upgrade its version), I was advised to use GD2 as an alternative, but that seems to output garbled images:

Photopost says the GD may be corrupt; DaThorn says everything is functioning properly.

I don't know what to do here.

I do use an old version of Photopost, but never updated it (and never bought another copy for any of my other sites ... I had nothing but bad experiences getting it set up, and the folks there were much less than helpful).

My prior experience with Photopost leads me to think that perhaps they have a problem and are not telling you about it. After seeing how poorly their installation documentation was, I asked for a refund (this was within hours of purchasing). They told me to take a flying leap, and they weren't exactly nice about it. It took me three days to get their script installed, primarily because of erroneous instructions.

By the way, have they offered the $100 installation service yet? That's what they did to me, but once I figured it out, after 3 days, I sent them an email with corrections to their installation docs and a list of all the scripts I had installed (they indicated I was probably just inexperienced and incapable of installing "sophisticated" software). Never received a response, but then I didn't expect it.

Try installing Coppermine ... it works better, and is much, much easier to set up. I have it and Menalto's Gallery installed here on the Dathorn servers, and they are working flawlessly. They are free so at least you aren't out more money.

Also, looks to me like the other pictures in the album came out OK, just the "solarized dog" one is heavily pixelated.

I agree with the support at PP. They are extremely rude. Unfortunately, I have compared programs and they are the one I need.

Right now, I have left the setting at GD and the pixelated garbage output rather than having an error code....

has ANYONE been able to install a non-root imagemagick

It will vary by server you are on ... I am using the Dathorn installed GD and Imagemagik with different scripts without any problems on Cpanel08.

You might try installing Coppermine, testing it, and then if it works, you know the problem is with PP and not Dathorn's installation. That may get their attention.

If Coppermine has the same issue, then have Dathorn take another look.
