Can someone explain the backup process to me?

I want to start having my site content backed up. I found the price guide here - something like $2 for every GB or so, I believe. It said you can have daily, weekly or monthly backups... my question is really just how this works. How long is the data kept for? If I got backups every Monday is it just good for a 24 hour period and then deleted? If I was counting on this service as being my only backup would I need to have daily backups to be covered 100%? I really don't understand how it works.

Can the backups be sent on disc or something for an extra fee? If there's a FAQ on this that I missed feel free to just point to that... I didn't see one.

If you purchase daily backups, the backups are replaced every day. If your purchase weekly backups, they are replaced every week. The same goes for monthly.

These backups can be accessed via FTP.

in the same breath; if the server goes down (most likely the only reason i'd need a backup) the sytem isn't stupid right. It won't overright a daily backup with corrupt data, right?

Oh I get it thanks. Well I'll definitely be ordering these services later today.

        Damn, yeah that'd suck.

That really depends on the specific case. "server down" can mean a lot of different things. But the basic point is that if you have daily backups then you need to be certain the problem is recognized before they are overwritten. This is why we have many customers using daily and weekly backups.

One more question I guess, sorry. Do I email 'sales' to set up backups or is it a trouble ticket or cpanel thing? I also wanted to upgrade from basic to business - I assume I would handle this the same way?
