Are we allowed to create and use php scripts with Smarty?

I am planning to learn php and I have been told to use Smarty to make it easyer. So just wondering if its cool to use smarty on the servers before I even bother trying to learn php.

That's a question you should ask Dathorn when in doubt. However, as far as I know it's not a banned script. It's actually used by a lot of php scripts.

I doubt learning Smarty will make learning PHP easier. Smarty is pretty much a separate language itself.

I haven't had any issues using smarty

I agree with Budda that it won't make it easier to learn PHP, but it is great for keeping presentation away from business logic.

Ok thanks alot guys. I think ill just try learn php first then and then give smarty a go once I can use php.
