    New Website-Do I have backup?

    Hey dudes...
    Like... Long time no type...

I quit doing web design a long time ago but still have many friends that I host here at dathorn...

I became unemployed and decided to check out current internet money making possibilities... So I set up a blogg under one of my domains...

My question is if it suddenly becomes popular when I advertise it in some busy forums and such do you think there will be a spike and thus slow down the server?

You know I'm just dreaming here but I think I have a pretty good idea... If it becomes very popular can I upgrade to a higher bandwidth and such and is the site being backed up here at dathorn if something happens?

Thank you - Great Hosting Company!

Your welcome to check out the blogg here :

    Peace... And Shine ON!
Sorry I gave up blogging for web design.

If the traffic to the domain begins to cause problems you will be notified of this via e-mail. If it begins to cause serious performance problems on the server then the domain may even be suspended depending on the quantity of the traffic and how the scripts are performing. Bandwidth is never usually a problem as much as system resource (CPU, disk I/O, etc.) usage is due to the PHP/SQL hits.

We do maintain weekly system backups of our servers. These are not available to customers and are only used by us in case of a complete system failure/corruption/etc. If you want to have access to backups you would need to pay for our additional backup service.

So if the traffic get's heavy on a daily bases Say.... 20000 page views per week or something.... Would that be a heave load?

And if it kept growing do you have dedicated servers available that I could upgrade the account to if I needed?

There is no simple answer to that. It highly depends on the scripts, how they were coded, how they are being used, the SQL queries, etc. In general, though, 20,000 page views a week shouldn't be a problem. That amounts to about two per minute.

We do offer dedicated servers on a per quote basis to our existing customers.

I am using wordpress and it seems stable enough... I have seem many other bloggers doing this... Hmmm? So that's good... If it goes crazy I'll just call or something and immediately upgrade to a dedicated if that's ok...

I will make sure to keep wordpress updated....
