    Question;

    I am gearing up for a website that will be playing flash videos - it will be not frequently accessed (10-20 people a day at best is my guess); it will be a series of interviews with fairly limited audience. As I understand it; for shared hosting plans, the bandwidth / traffic via raw data transfer will not interfere with those who are on the same server; but its poor coding and database design that would be problematic?

    I am just looking for Andrew to pipe in and 'lay down the law'; my thinking is that as the bandwidth and space requirements increase, I'd just upgrade my hosting package as needed. 'I don't think' that a dedicated server is required; again - my assumption is based on the fact that most of the traffic will be generated purely through data transfer involved in viewing the flash videos.

    Thanks in advance!

    The traffic that you described shouldn't be a problem. Most commonly, yes, it is poor code that causes problems. However, many continuous file streams can also begin to create problems as these files still have to be served from disk.

      aha, I had not considered simultaneous access to files. The bitrate for each file is generally low - I'll have to keep an eye on usage with more times in a day once traffic starts to increase; and if it gets to the point where its too heavy on traffic - it would mean the site is successful and therefor worthwhile to sign up to dedicated hosting anyway.

      Thank you for your answer!
