Dynamic Subdomains

Hi, i was wondering if I can create dynamic sub domains in a shared hosting.

I mean create a subdomain for each user. Example http://user.mydomain.com.

Anyone did this here before?

What exactly are you wanting to do?

Individual subdomains can be created via cPanel.

Wildcard subdomains can also be created via cPanel by creating a * subdomain. Though if you do this you would still need something to redirect the valid subdomains to their different sites (such as Wordpress MU).

I want to generate a subdomain for each new registered user. This must be done automatically "Individual subdomains can be created via cPanel" is not good for me.

I'll try the "Wildcard subdomains" option.

Wow, thank you for the * tip! I had a wildcard set up in my DNS zone but I didn't know cPanel allows this. Actually, I remember somebody (was it Pedja?) asked roughly the same question awhile ago and I probably misinformed him that it's not possible ATM.

cPanel didn't support this for the longest time. We always had to modify the Apache configuration manually for users that wanted to enable wildcard subdomains. Now the process is very easily done via cPanel.

Yes, I asked that, and it was not possible at the time to do that using CPanel, but Andrew offered to set it by himself. It is great to hear now it can be done through CP.
