Is cpanel35 slow?

Hi!

I have recently moved here(dathorn) and I noticed that my sites which are very small personal sites are taking longer than they would normally do.
I was wondering if anyone else hosted on this same server noticed any slower transfer speeds?

I have tested this from different locations and I have noticed a difference.. they are loading slower than they would normally do. allmost 40 to 50% slower.

Any hints or help would be much appericiated.

Also I have faced one more problem, I was not able to download an existing file from my folder onthe server to the local disk using ftp tool. which I normally used to do. Do I have to set permissions somewhere? or I'm I missing something?

I found your sights were loading very qickly and smoothly no issues what so ever

I checked the ping times and they were 70 ms which from my location to the Planet is the norm.

Depending what folder you where trying to FTP to your local settings may be a question.... need more details

Well I have just copying a .htm file to my local folder

I have uploaded my site and I had deleted the files I copied on to my server. lets say index.htm is the file I want to have a copy of on my harddisk and I have to download it from my server? do I have to have permissions set some where on the server to let me download the file?

I'm on cpanel35 and my sites all load fine. The server load is about .5 which is normal. Do a trace route as it may be between you and theplanet.

As for the FTP issue you should have no problems. Are you Logging in with your main username/password for that domain which you set up in WHM? Which FTP client are you using?

I guess then the problem would be with my ISP. I will do a trace route and check.

And regarding FTP, I am using the username and Password I have set for the client in WHM. No problem's in connecting to the site and uploading the files its just that I am not able to download anything back.

Sorry to ask so many questions its just that I din't face these problems before.
I use http://www.blogger.com for my blog. And to create archives blogger uses dates and creates folders on the server to store the files. When I am publishing content, Blogger is unable to create these folders.
I am guess this is to do with permissions. But I am not sure where to set them.
I have configured the same ftp username and password in Blogger. The files are being published correcty in the existing folders, the problem occurs when a new folder has to be created.
Any help on this would be really appreciated.

As for the FTP issues I would try a different client such as Filezilla or CuteFTP. I just created a few FTP accounts and all work flawlessly when uploading/downloading files as well as creating sub-folders.

I have never used http://blogger.com (didn't google buy this out?) but I was under the impression that it was a free blogging site that is self contained under thier servers (If I'm wrong please correct me). The documentation does list hooks for thier api but I'm guessing that you could be doing a site to site transfer. Just make sure all your paths are accurate.

Also Dathorn servers are running PHPsuexec so if your script requires 777 permisions you may need to modify these to 755. There is a great FAQ running PHP as CGI HERE.

Sorry I cant be of more help on the blogger issue. Mabey someone who has used the script/site can chime in

You are right Google did buy Blogger, put it just got better, its still free, but not limited to their servers, it can be used on own domains and servers. I will look at their scripts further for clarifications. Its a publishing tool and uses ftp.

I have also checked PHPsuexec write up. Not sure if that really made any sense to me
Not used to these, new to reseller hosting never. been just using ftp client and doing very little with the CPanel. Anyways I will see if I can get things to work..
