one domain used to send spam messages

I just received this message and am afraid to click on attachment.

    Dear user of foxhuntingworld.com,

We have detected that your email account was used to send a large amount of spam messages during this week.
We suspect that your computer was infected and now contains a hidden proxy server.

Please follow our instructions in order to keep your computer safe.

    Sincerely yours,
    foxhuntingworld.com user support team.

    Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
    Content-Disposition: attachment;

My sent message folder shows only a couple of messages.
    What is this?

Yes, you should always scan attachments, especially from people you dont know.

I think this is only a virus and I doesn't mean that actually "your email account was used to send a large amount of spam messages". I've been getting these messages too in some of my domains.

        Just delete it.

You should always scan all incoming messages, including your friends. Plus never trust attachments from unknown sources, even after they where scanned.

If the instructions are in a .zip file, then it is a good bet that you would indeed become what the email message claims if you open the file.

What kind of instructions could be so large that they need to be compressed into a zip file?

            Thanks
I have now deleted it unopened.
I did not scan for a virus...I changed to XP and my Norton Anti-Virus is only compatible with ME....gotta change that.

Question. I have other software apps that are ME compatible.
Is a dual boot option a good thing or should I just use another box...If in fact an XP main and ME options would not be compatible.

That's a classic example of the latest MyDoom-O virus:

Stay up to date. It's been in the national news over here in the UK.

Upgrade from ME to XP? Icky. That pc has to be slow feelin. There shouldn't be any reason that your norton anti-virus software won't work with xp.
