Bulk Email

I've seen a couple of posts on this and just wanted to check if the following would be acceptable.

1. User completes form to register for mailing list
2. User is sent email with link to verify email address to start receiving mail.
3. User is sent remove link with each mailshot.
4. When sending a message to the mailing list I send 5 messages, wait 10 seconds then continue...

How does this sound? We are talking a list of a couple of hundred names...

Is there a good email program like this already in existance? I haven't had the opportunity to look but i'm going to need something similar in the near future.

take a look at phplist, it is in your script library, but reccommend using the most recent version from their website
