    ASP on Unix?

Please accept my apologies for this ignorant question beforehand.

I am not a programmer but I have seen some ASP support on Linux servers and maybe on Unix aswell with Apache:ASP?. I just would like to learn if it is possible on our servers as well, because one of my client wants to run ASP on their web site...

    Regards.

chillsoft asp component i think is the only thing to allow ASP on a linux server. ASP is offered with windows2000 and up on IIS servers (and some others if i remember correctly)

chillsoft component might have changed names since, but it was never great, as it didnt 100% support the language. i think asp has its ups and downs, its very easy to use, but in the same way, its not as good as php or other code.

if you want ASP you will have to use a windows server... i dont belive dathorn will supply any component for ASP, even if you paid a lot of money for it. i wouldnt either. :P

if you have a small website i can suggest www.readyhosting.com they yelled at us because we were running CGI forums, and god knows how many downloads they just couldnt handel on a shared windows server, not to mention at the time the download was around 200mb and over 400 people would grab at once :P but for normal day to day websites it not bad.. they even supported coldfusion, but the MS SQL server database costs at least 100$ more, so just use ms access databases'.

        Thank you.

        Hi,

Thank you all for your messages. I think I will go for a Windows based reseller account to handle these kind of requests.

        Regards.
