    WHM package limits

I've been running my hosting pretty helter skelter and now have a bunch of varying packages. I'm trying to get organized and am wondering....

Are there any good rules of thumb in choosing the limits on a package? I think I have the Quota and Bandwidth down, but I'm wondering about all the Max xxxx fields. Is there any reason not to have these set to unlimited? What are good limits and why?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Regards,

    Philip.

I've heard somewhere bout it should not be set to "unlimited".
If you want a unlimited number, simply put a huge number such as: 999,999,999.
I see no reason why not to offer a large (call it "virtually unlimited") number of things
such as emails, ftp accounts, and so forth.

the main reason to set limits for any of those is to get people to upgrade when they need more even if they don't need more bandwidth or hdd space. I would limit the number of mysql databases because people really shouldn't need more than oh say 5.

Heh one of my sites used to have like 20 MySQL DBs
All for different projects I was testing I was too lazy to
make new tables in one single DB.... heh I've since deleted 'em all.

          Thanks for the replies!

I would be interested in finding out why "unlimited" is not a good maximum. I looked it up in the WHM documentation and it's suggested there.

What do you all have set as your limits?

          Thanks again!

I used to use 'unlimited' as a number, and found that it just caused problems with certain things. I noticed this when a customer noted that he just couldn't create any more email accounts, it was saying he had reached his limit. Setting the values to 9999 fixed the problem.
