    Weird, Weird CPANEL Problems!

I have been encountering two very strange Cpanel problems. I hope someone can help me with either a fix, or inform me that just the way it is...!

    1) I have uploaded animated gifs to a site, and when I view them from the site, they DON'T ANIMATE! I can view them off an index, and they animate NO problem. I can download them direct from the site, then open them in IE, and they animate. But when I view them ON THE SITE, they are static! wEiRd!!!! Here's the URL: http://www.electionanalysis.com/archives/

    2) I frequently use the file editor built into Cpanel. It's just convenient and quick to make quick changes. HOWEVER..... in many java scripts, I have a double ampersand (&&). Apparently, Apache (or Cpanel) doesn't like ampersands and upon saving, it converts them to this ( & ). The real problem is every time I re-save, I have to go back and manually make the change back to ( && ) or else I end up with a huge string of & & & & & & and of course, the javascript doesn't work! WIERD!

    Can anyone help? Please???

for the second one, use a real editor :-D

Actually i doubt there is anyway to change that because it is a cpanel bug and who knows if they will ever get around to fixing it.

The first one is just weird.

I've had this before. Not sure this is the cure, but try it: There's a setting in Tools*Internet Options*Advanced ... scroll down to "Play Animations in Web Pages" (in the "Multimedia" section, and make sure it has a check mark. IE will sometimes play the animation if you load it from disk, but not if it is downloaded.

LOL, Oz! I know, I know! But it just SO convenient to edit and save right from the server!

And Frank- I do have my browser set to animate gifs. Here's the URL. Would you take a look and tell me if the little American flags are animating for you?

When I view the page they are static, HOWEVER.... on the HOME page, there's a MUCH more complicated animated election map that works just fine!

        wEiRd! wEiRd! wEiRd!

Thanks Jonathon! Did you try the large map animation?

This is really frustrating. I wish I knew the answer, but at least of others are getting the animation, it's not so bad.

Sometimes cPanel acts so strange. Here's another example. Yesterday, I copied several images from one directory to another. The file names all showed up in the folder, but the html file cannot access them. When viewed as an index, they list as there, but clicking on the filename produces a 404 error!

            Shyte!

No sorry I was on 56K @ the time,
so I didn't feel...erhm..."needed" to check the large map

Best man -- FTP upload all your pics, etc.
and that'll work best; cPanel upload it a gay (CURSE DELETED)

Hey Jonathan, no problem! Between the Flash and the animated map gif it's a little hefty!

I sure wish I new why some gifs animate and some don't! Cpanel is a hoot!

Today, a client emailed me to ask "why won't my javascripts work anymore?" So I got his log-in and looked at the scripts, and he had lines that looked like this:

                document.images & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & (preloadFlag == true)

Apparently he had resaved many times without fixing this little glitch. What a hoot!
