Big difference between Awstats and cPanel stats

    Hello,

My customers are complaining that Awstats shows X bandwith used and cpanel states Y bandwith used. I've read Awstats doesn't count all the traffic very well, but we are not talking about a few MB off, we are talking about hundreds of MB.

In one of the accounts Awstats states 302 MB has been used in the current month while cPanel states 720 MB! How is that possible? Are spiders and robots using more BW than humans?

If anyone is having the same problem and this is not a bug is there anything I can use to analyze the logs that give me accurate results and not this enormous difference between stats?

    Thanks in advance.

That is not unusal. Send Trouble Ticket and Dathorn stuff will handle the problem.

Wouldn't awstats only include HTTP traffic?

Cpanel would (I assume) include http, ftp, mail etc.

Yes, but considering what customer says, and that this account is using 17 MB of disk space (it hosts a forum) and it has only one email account 10 MB quota, I hardly believe it has transferred 420 MB trough FTP and mail in december.

I submit a trouble ticket on monday and the techies updated cPanel but that not seems to have solved the problem.

What does WHM say for that customers stats?
I've had a couple of domains showing the wrong usage in cPanel, but not in WHM and Awstats.
I could be that cPanel is off and needs a reset or something.

WHM and cPanel stats are the same. On the other hand, I downloaded the Raw Access logs and analyzed them with Analog and the stats are the same shown by Awstats
