Parked Domain - Stats?

I have a client who registered a shorter domain name, and wanted to park it on his account. So far, so good. I set up the parked domain, and its propegated already, so I can see that entering the shorter domain name takes him to his longer domain name website.

Now for the question:

Is there a way to get stats regarding how many people use that shorter domain name to access the site? I didn't see anything in AWStats showing this.

Page views to parked domains go to the same log file as the main domain so there is no way to differentiate between the two. If it was an addon domain then they would be separate.

OK, so I guess I could do an add-on and then use a redirect from that subdomain folder to the main site.

I'll see if he wants to do that; its a little kludgey, but I suspect he won't mind.

Correct. You can either do that or add some code to all of the pages that will log the details of each visit. But the redirection is probably more realistic.
