AWStats Browser stats -- Mozilla too high?

Has anyone out there noticed a recent surge in AWStats reporting
the numbers for Mozilla as a browser?

Right now, my stats look like:
    MS Internet Explorer No 11181 59.2 %
    Mozilla No 3548 18.7 %
    Firefox No 3272 17.3 %
    Safari No 488 2.5 %

I'm wondering what could be causing AWStats to misrepresent the data this way.

What makes you think that the data is wrong?

It just grabs that information directly from your Apache log files, so there's really no way for it to be wrong though it is easy for that information to be made up by the client.

In July, AWStats reported Mozilla as the browser for 0.5% of my page requests.
In August, all of a sudden it is 18%, on par with Firefox.

Clearly Mozilla usage didn't increase overnight as AWStats has indicated.

Most user agent entries in my Last 300 Visitors stats page have "Mozilla" somewhere in there, but it then further clarifies as "MSIE6.0" or "Firefox 2.0.0.6" or whatever.

The only ones I can see that list Mozilla but then don't have an IE or Firefox version are search engine user agents such as Yahoo Slurp. So is that what AWStats is now counting as page requests by a Mozilla browser?

And I really would like to hear from some other webmasters out there.
Is anyone else noticing this unexplained jump for Mozilla?
Does AWStats perhaps have an update available that fixes this situation?

        I'm not seeing any difference.

        Code:
        MSIE 193297 80.2 %
        Firefox 26210 10.8 %
        Safari 5511 2.2 %
        Mozilla 3820 1.5 %
Pretty steady for the last three months. Maybe you attracted a spammer who likes Mozilla? Most of my spammers like MSIE, a few Firefox fans. Do you have a Google Analytics account? Might help to compare, spammers don't usually show up in Google's stats because it's based on Javascript.

I assure you that there is no problem with AWStats. It reads the browser in plain text from the Apache log files. It is a very simple and straight forward process.

on that topic, no big deal but has anyone had no updates to their awstats since the 23rd of August? This I think was the day dathorn updated the roundcube cpanel etc.

Also, will submit a trouble ticket if Im the only one, but my diskspace usage still seems to be way off for my accounts, reporting 1300 per cent over usage or some such nonsense?

AWStats cannot update if there is no free disk space available on the domain. As always, please submit a ticket if you need support.
