Upgrading cpanel MySQL DB - Effect on Wordpress blogs

    Hi,
we are running multiple instances of wordpress blogs in our website hosted in cpanel. The installed version of wordpress is version 2.0. Will this be affected in any way because of the upgrade of databases from MySQL 4.1.x to MySQL 5.0.x in cpanel- planned for 6th Jan 2008.

    Kndly clarify.

    -Bushan.

Your best bet would be to check with the developers to confirm that your version of the script is compatible with MySQL 5.

You should upgrade to version 2.3.2; there's a nasty security issue with the versions prior
WordPress 2.3.2 is an urgent security release that fixes a bug that can be used to expose your draft posts. 2.3.2 also suppresses some error messages that can give away information about your database table structure and limits and stops some information leaks in the XML-RPC and APP implementations.
I did have trouble with the latest upgrade from version 2.3 to 2.3.2, but it was related to the upgrade instructions (use the LONG version of the instructions for the upgrade, at http://codex.wordpress.org/Upgrading_WordPress_Extended ... you have to delete certain files, a fact not covered in the shorter instructions.) See the topic at http://wordpress.org/support/topic/135799#post-621664 for more info.
