    creating reseller accounts in WHM

    Hi,

    is it possible in any way to modify the WHM so reseller packages can be created with it? I'd like to know the same for PLESK.

    You mean, so like your customers can be resellers??
    If so, this is strictly forbidden under the TOS/AUP....

    Also Dathorn doesn't use PLESK

      TOS/AUP?

      My question isn't whether Dathorn allows it or not (I suppose they don't allow it), my question simply is: is it possible? Is there a feature that can be enabled to make it work? Whether in cPanel WHM or in Plesk or some other interface...

        TOS = Terms of Service
        AUP = Acceptable Use Policy

        And no, doubt there would be and if so
        your account most likely would be terminated
        faster than you can so "damnit!"

          You won't get it here at Dathorn, but I have seen reseller accounts capable of offering reseller accounts themselves. If you ask me, it's a ticking time bomb waiting to explode.

            Just to make it clear - I know Dathorn wouldn't allow it, I wouldn't try to do it without them knowing it, that would be plain dumb, but I guess I can ASK if it can be done...

            thanks for all the replies. why would you say it's a ticking time bomb openbox? btw: do you remember the software that enabled users to make reseller accounts? cPanel WHM perhaps?

              Resellers selling under resellers using waaaay more resources than are available. Seems like a recipe for disaster. As far as the software goes, I thought Plesk and HSphere allowed it (don't quote me because this was a couple of years ago) and somebody had "hacked" cPanel to allow it. Beyond that, I don't remember much...sorry.

                I just looked through the setup of my dedicated server running cPanel and I can't find the ability to allow a reseller to create reseller accounts so I don't think this is possible.

                I think it would be better to get a dedicated server or a Virtual Dedicated server instead anyway. If your resellers have resellers have resellers etc... every one above would be able to log into all the accounts below the reseller so as the saying goes "too many cooks ruins the..."

                Hope the above scribbles makes some sense.

                  Thanks for the replies, you've been very helpful. So what if I get a ded. or virtual ded. server... how can I make new resellers?

                    If you have a dedi or a virtual server, you are then in Andrew's position and can add all the resellers you want/need.

                      And you have access to the "root" control panel. LOTS more stuff there than what you have in your WHM panel.

                        WHM does have the ability to create reseller accounts as well, yes.
