      Hey Darren

cPanel usually takes until about midnight, that night (when you upgrade acct),
before the "Bandwidth Exceeded" message is taken down,
and the site is back up.

If you need it back up before then, you could always
submit a TT (Trouble Ticket) in the CCP to have them force it
      to upgrade right now

I was wondering the same thing, but at the moment the account in question has no problems with bandwidth usage.

But I was wondering about the procedure to step-up the available bandwidth for an account, if it looked like needing it.

In WHM, the only way to upgrade the bandwidth available to an existing fully-functioning account seems to be to apply a new account package to the existing site, as the WHM docs point out:

To upgrade or downgrade an account:

Click on the Upgrade/Downgrade an Account link in the Account Functions menu.

Click on the domain or user name in the displayed list and click on the Modify button.

Click on the new plan in the displayed list and click on the Change button.

Note: Changing plans does not modify CGI access and does not affect whether they have an IP or not.
My question is this: before I go ahead and do this, I need to know whether it will affect anything on the existing account (permissions. .htaccess configs, MySQL tables etc).

Can someone who has done this before let me know if it is a painless procedure or not.

          Thanks

          Sam

            Sorry, I'm an idiot.

My previous post about using WHM to do this was barking up the wrong-tree.

In WHM, these account limits are determined by the 'package' active against an account.

So in WHM, you can modify the bandwidth usage limits of a package, and the domain(s) in question will then be updated.

            Too easy.

            Sam

When I oppened reseller account i created one testing cpanel account and tried all I could imagine I would need. Among the first was the upgrade/downgrade procedure.

What I can tell is that yu may upgrade or downgrade account and it wont loose any settings that arenot related to package parameters. I thik, ieven if you downgrade account it wil keep setting available in hihger package and if you upgrade again those settings will be usable again. You should test this of course, do not take it for granted.

Also, if yu change paramters for packages, it wil reassing those parameters to all cpanel accounts related to packages, in the same manner as you upgrade/downgrade to that package manualy.

In my opinion upgading/downgrading is pretty safe operation.
