    add on domain

This is a stupid question but I couldn't find any documentation on cpanel.net

What is an addon domain? I have an account that needs 2 domains on the same account sharing resources in the package. I do not want a parked domain but 2 completely different domains using the same package.

Will the addon domain do this? Will the account use the same cpanel account to view info on both domains?

    thanks

An add-on domain allows you to host more than one domain name under one package.
When you create an add-on domain, a seperate folder will be created under your public_html folder, which the add-on domain will use for serving files and webpages.

how do you assign the new domain to the new folder? and does the owner of the domain simply assign the same name servers for both domains?

The nameservers should be the same (this i know for sure).

As for adding it on I think you do it in cpanel with the add-on domain function.

Use the add-on domain function under your cPanel login.
You assign a folder name as far as i'm aware and cPanel will do the rest for you. It creates the folder for you and all the server side stuff.

Get your user to point the nameservers to those that you use for your main domain name.

            Parked Add On

OK so I have been looking at these posts.. I have just completed a site for some guys. They have an old site that was done under another domain. It is hosted elswhere... They are trying to get the old wemaster to give up this other domain..

So on the new site I have set up a parked domain..(cpanel) All the old webmaster has to do is point the nameservers to the blind ones that dathorn provided with my account right?

Then the old domain will be pointed at the new site I created correct?? (Which is under a new domain)

Good grief is that confusing or what?

I want 2 domains pointing to the same site..
            Can ya dig it?

            Thanks

Excellent! Now all I gotta do is get the guy to change the nameservers...
