    GoDaddy Error (551)

    I followed -Oz-'s Creating Custom Nameservers With GoDaddy guide, and I was able to only have success (from the e-mail generated by GoDaddy telling me) for four (4) out of six (6) of my domains. Both of the ones that failed generated this e-mail from GoDaddy:
    The registration of NS1.FOO.COM has FAILED.

    The IP you requested for this nameserver was:

    69.xx.xx.100

    Error: (551) Parent domain status does not allow for operation;
    This was generated for NS2.FOO.COM (69.xx.xx.101), where FOO are the domain names that was not successful, and xx.xx represents the appropriate name server IPs given in the welcome e-mail.

    Any ideas?

    I e-mailed the registrar to request further details, and will follow up with their reply. I am hoping it won't be a fingerpointing issue, where one says it's the others fault. It's just funny how it worked fine for four domains.

    What an error message...it surely sounded cryptic. :lol:

    Here is what they said
    In order to register your name servers, your domain must be within an active status.
    Hence, it must be in "unlocked" status. However, this does not explain why it allowed me to register name servers for three domains without unlocking them. (registering, NOT setting name servers).

    Computers...ARG! So unpredictable sometimes, it's scary. LOL
