    Client side spam filtering

What do you use or perfer for client side spam filtering?

Found out yesterday that Cloudmark's "free" beta version of Spamnet no longer works. So I'm again on the hunt for a good, free client side spam filtering program.

I also use popfile. Works great. Haven't touched it in about a year so it hasn't learned some of the new spam. But it still works great.

I use SpamPAL. Some spam gets through but I haven't bothered to
upgrade it since I got it.. so that could be why (btw, url is SpamPAL.org)

We recommend SpamPal @ work. I've used it before, and found it to not work as well as my other one (spamnet) did.

Gonna install popfile and give it a go.

Well maybe not, POPFile likes its RAM

3rd highest on the list. Only my Norton Ghost Hot Sync and Nav is higher.

I use Cloudmark and I must say it catches EVERY spam mail message without a hitch. Although, it isn't cheap.

Had the BETA version of it that they (like IPB) claimed "would always be free". But of course like IPB, just another pipe dream. They changed it to force you to upgrade, then after 30 days, trial runs out. Great product, but why should you have to pay NOT to get spam? Bleh.

So far POPFile uses too much overall resources (high memory usage). Spampal doesn't work correctly with a few of my accounts (grrr). Blah, spam is such a pain in the a**.

I've not noticed it cause any detrimental effects to my computer since using popfile I guess for low RAM based machines it would be an issue.

it filters about 70 spams a day for me with 100% accuracy.

If you sign up let me know, i would like the refferal credits!

PM me and ill tell you more about its greatness

I've got a GIG of ram. I just don't care for software that takes up that much space.

Due to a lucky M$ update last week, which managed to corrupt my SATA driver for my hard drive, I was forced to format/install again. Got my older SpamNET BETA working again. So far no issues with it. I will continue to use that until they kill it, or make their service free.

**Note I was an original SpamNET BETA tester, and saved that BETA install file.

I used to use spampal, but since then I've switched to choicemail one. It's absolutely foolproof, as it's a permission based spam blocker. Absolutely foolproof

Thunderbird mail has spam filtering integrated into the program and it works very well. I get 400 or so emails a day and it does a very good job at getting rid of the spam with no false positives. And it's free.

I too recommend Tbird. while not foolproof, it'll block many spam emails. I use it inconjunction with ChoiceMail One
