    WebDAV support

I've been reading up a bit on WebDAV this last few days and it looks like a good thing to have and offer to clients, but is it enabled on dathorn servers? An Apache module would be required (mod_dav) thus it's not something we can install on our own, is it? I believe there needs to be some changes to httpd.conf and/or the .htaccess files as well to enable it.

I've seen some posts on WHT saying that most Cpanel-based hosts already do have WebDAV which would be automatically enabled when you install the Frontpage Extensions. What's the take on this?
    cheers,

Any idea if there was any resolution on this? I'd love to have WebDav running on my site too.

            cheers,
            Jon

              So erm, what's webdav then?
You manage to "big it up" quite well, but no details for those of us lazy enough not to look

WebDAV stands for "Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning". It is a set of extensions to the HTTP protocol which allows users to collaboratively edit and manage files on remote web servers.

Central resource site for the WebDAV community.

its a bit like cvs for general files. the only real implementation I know of right now is under mac os X, where iCal calendars can be shared on webdav supported hosts.

I'm actually looking into this right now, since one of my main clients is a mac user and wants to share her ical with her users.

There is a PEAR implementation of WebDAV and an extended HTTP protocol, coupled with a mod rewrite htaccess that might work, but it needs testing first.

Unless Andrew pops by, he won't see this

What was the outcome? Is WebDAV support available?

                        ?

So.... has anything happened regarding WebDav? Was there a reply to anyone who submitted a support ticket? Is it worth me doing it?

I too would be interested in making use of WebDav capabilities!

                        Cheers,
                        Gaz

                          Response from Andrew

                          For those still wondering...

I just asked with a trouble ticket.

                          "Sorry, WebDAV is not supported."

Just as an afterthought - with these new VPS services incoming very soon, then you can build WebDAV support into your server easily.

                              Jesse,

As far as I know, this has not been planned to implement. However, I'm going to have our admins review this just to make sure.

                              Regards,
                              Pat

OK. Like I said, it's obvious that a number of folks are interested and the number of providers who offer it is limited, so it would definitely be a feather-in-the-cap sort of thing. It would allow us to add functionality to our sites that would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, at this time we have no plans to offer it.
