What support + client software do you use?

What support software do you use? (helpdesk, ticket system).

and what do you use to keep track of your clients?

I started to use ModernBill, but it got too complicated just to do a simple invoice.. Now i'm looking for some more lightweight apps.

any suggestions?

I like phpCoin. I have looked at the others, but they don't give me the same combination of features that the free phpCoin gives me, including a trouble ticket system, knowledge base, articles, as well as the billing features.

Last night I just started creating my own Customer Control Panel (similar to Dathorn's).

I just finished the trouble tickets feature - I couldn't find a cheap helpdesk script that had what i wanted, so I made my own instead.

Next I'm going to work on the billing section - that will be the real challenge!

Since my site uses PHPNuke, I've had an terrible
time trying to find something to fit in....

So basicly I've used the forums - sign up,
log the problem & domain, no user/pass ~
I log into WHM, look up user, then go
to their site and find out whats wrong.

HOWEVER, since alot of my business is done
with fellow minors, or younger adults (under 30)
I use MSN Messager & AOL Instant Messager alot.

TIP 4 making even happier customer:
Help with his/her web design even though all
over your site it says "WE WILL NOT HELP YOU WITH YOUR WEB DESIGN",
"WE ONLY SUPPORT SERVER/SITE ISSUES-- I.E., PROBLEM W/ EMAIL ETC"

comcage.com used to be hosted w/ dathorn... try asking him for his script--he was selling it for a reasonable price back in the days... he had a demo-link in the old-forums ...but you might want to check it out if you want something simple and premade.

but personally, i'm using whoiscart.net--haven't done anything major yet as i have no time =p

How hard is this to setup ? Is it easier to have them set it up for you (one time setup fee) Im looking @ leasing it @ first, to see if I like, and if so, then purchasing it.

I was researching the various client management tools available and found ClientExec and WHM Autopilot to be two of the best. A lot of people swear by modernbill, but I think it's bloated.

Anyways, someone clarify something for me. These software provide the owner a method of tracking their clients. As far as the billing features go, they really don't tie into the various credit card processors, yes or no? I Since paysystems and 2checkout handles recurring payments, then what does ClientExec really do? Send out invoices?

I'm only asking because I love the custom control panel Andrew has put together. Don't get me wrong, CE and WHMAP are two very good tools, but I prefer custom software for my own taste. If CE and WHMAP tied into paysystems somehow, then I would jump on it.

Can you install clientexec on Dathorn?

It was my understanding that install clientexec "The ionCube loader is required." -- which I had emailed Dathorn about and was told that they do not have it and would not install it.

But apparently some of you are using it... please educate me?

CE comes with ioncube, and is only need to start the app I think. I already verified it with Andrew back in October and that was OK

As for the re-occuring payment, CE supports it for Paysystems. I do not think it support it for 2CO and Paypal, but they are in the works last I heard.

V1.2, which is in beta and should be released shortly, supports cPanel, which is nice. (Add remove suspend account.)

I'm definately taking a look into clientexec now. Previously I was using ModernBill and after spending 2 weeks figuring out the billing system, and invoicing, not to mention editing hte registration templates, I gave up. Theres a tremendous amount of features there, but far far far more than I could ever use.

although I am currently writing my own script also. Just to get a firmer grasp on PHP while I do so.

On that subject, those who did write their own script, how did you manage to pass your form onto a third party payment system like paypal? After some research, I realized that you can't forward a POST using PHP.

$9.95 a month to try it...why not...and they seem to have nice, helpful forums...and if u lease it, its free support.

Well that was easy/painless to install. Easier than installing invision forums, thats for sure. Still setting it up, but its easy as pie. I think Im really gonna like this.

I'll post a review after Ive used it a bit longer.

Just one question I didnt notice right off the bat, it has an area for credit card payment, does that mean I can run it thru the program, or do I need a 3rd party processor to do it? (hey, its late, and Im tired) =P
