    cpanel 31 down too.

I know about The Planet problems, but just thought add cpanel 31 to the list of boxes with problems here. And record the time too.

    Those clowns at The Planet.

Didn't they do the usual mantra of test, test, test, especially when you go plugging new stuff into a critical chunk of your infrastructure.

They are clearly some way from offering carrier grade service to their downstream customers.

    Grrrr.

      Thanks Kyle.

Now it is back-up. Uptime is reported as 5 minutes on cpanel31 so maybe it was re-booted while I was making my post, and the issue was not The Planet related at all.

      Anyway, all is well again.

Make it over a 1 month period...then even a hour or two of downtime per month can easily be accommodated by even a 99.5% uptime guarantee.

            24hrs x 30 days = 720 hours = 43200 minutes.

            1% of 720 = 7.2 hours or 432 mins or
            0.5% = 3.6 hours or 216 mins ....

3.6 hours per month is a reasonable amount of time for system admin and to allow for various glitches.

99.9% gets tricky though - what you are saying is that each month you are only allowing 43 minutes for downtime. Not impossible for a sysadmin to keep a server up that long, but harder.
